Esophageal tumors are abnormal growths that develop in the esophagus (food pipe). They can be categorized into two main types:
Benign Tumors
These are non-cancerous growths including:
- Leiomyoma – Most common benign esophageal tumor
- Hemangioma – Blood vessel tumors
- Lipoma – Fatty tissue tumors
- Fibroma – Connective tissue tumors
Malignant Tumors
These are cancerous growths including:
- Esophageal Cancer (main types: squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma)
- Rare malignant tumors:
- Leiomyosarcoma
- Malignant Melanoma
- Rhabdomyosarcoma
- Lymphoma
Each type of tumor requires different diagnostic approaches and treatment strategies, ranging from monitoring for benign tumors to aggressive treatment for malignant ones.
